Wow it's been a while... I haven't been doing a lot really, all my time and money has been going into getting the MK3 some new shoes.
But now that's done I can spend some more time on the MK2!
I have just been going over the interior today, and I've made a list of all the things I need to get it registered.

If anyone can help me out with any of this stuff I would be eternally grateful!
I plan on getting the MK2 cleaned up and registered, then I might be moving on to another project, I'm dreaming of a 2 door MK1
So just to slip it in, if anyone is interested in the MK2 ragtop, give me a buzz. Probably won't be selling until I get it registered (worth more).
Hell I might not sell it at all...Last edited by veedubMK3; 04-11-2013, 09:03 PM.1990 Mk2 GTI 20vt - @mk2.20vt

Not much has happened lately, I'm still as indecisive as ever. Off to go get parts from Wade (GOLFBALLS) this morning. I'm picking up, full grey interior, wiper arm, boot struts, and a few other goodies. Also getting a shock and lowering spring combo too! I will up date when I start getting the parts in!

Just went out to Grants (roccodingo) house to meet wade (GOLFBALLS) and get me some mk2 goodies!
Parts I picked up;
Uncracked dash
Full grey cloth seats
Full carpet
Parcel shelf
Boot struts
Matching door cards
Lowering suspension
Headlights
Us collecting the parts, that's wades beautiful mk2!

I will start fitting these parts over the next couple of weeks, then off to get rego hopefully!

Started going over the car again today.
Fitted the new boot struts, window winder mechanism and headlights.
I also spent the day hoovering the car and getting it ready for the carpet.

I then cleaned the carpet fully too, nice a clean now!

Before;

This is what comes out next,

And this is going in!

This is a current engine bay shot... Pretty lame!

Also my declaration of car ownership papers arrived yesterday so it's "officially" mine now! And the ownership side is all set for the pits.
I'm also having some thoughts about an engine swap....
What can you fellow watercoolers tell me about converting a RV motor to carburettor?
Ie how hard/simple? Is it as easy as swapping the intake manifold and bolting on a carby? What else will I need to do?
I'm new to all this engine swap stuff, just looking to see wether it is worth the while and the effort?
I'm already assuming it is though

You'd just need to block the injector ports up in the head. Not sure how that is best done... I have seen them blocked with welch plugs before.
Thats about all you would need to do.'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension

You can buy threaded plugs with allen key heads recessed into them, that'd be your best bet!
Also, like i said the other day, the conversion will literally be bolt-and-play as your car already runs a carburettor
Then it's just like you said, manifold, carbies, tune, and go have fun!

Another update today!
After an awesome day at DOVW I was totally in the mood to do some Volkswagen fiddling so me and dad swapped the dash.
Old ****ty dash;

New, non-****ty dash;

I'm going to finish the install tomorrow and the get on with the rest of the interior.
Also got some more interior bits from wade,

And..... I pulled the trigger on an RV engine (also from wade aha) so I'm picking that up on the 14th of December. The plan is to clean, service, install go fast bits then convert it to run dual dellorto's!
More updates to come!1990 Mk2 GTI 20vt - @mk2.20vt

A few more bits and bobs got done today.
Finished fitting the dash, and then started laying the carpets.

Looks so much nicer now. So once all the carpets where in, I chucked the bench in and did the rear door cards. The rest will be finished off tomorrow!

So happy with how the interior is turning out!

Installed parcel shelf and what not.

Currently spraying the mk3 steelies up white now;

need to fetch a few more little things for the mk2 over the next couple of weeks then hopefully it will be off to the pits and registered while the RV motor gets built.
