Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    =[

the golf failed a blue slip earlier today.. not to say that i didn't take the scenic route in coming home though. the problem pretty much rust. there's a whole heap near the hinge of the driver door, underneath the battery and along the roof line adjoining the rear quarter panel.

hmm do any of you guys have much experience/want to help me with getting rid of this rust? i think the trickiest bit is the door frame part. and also, what do i do with hail dents..?

    thanks guys, james

Geez James, that is heartbreaking. I had absolutely no idea the little beastie had that much rust in it......I knew there was a spot under the back window and a chunk under the passenger front door. My heart goes out to you, mate.
      My condolences

Go somewhere else and get a blueslip mate.
I can sort it at Campbelltown if no-one else can.
Doesnt sound structural, the tester is probably being too picky.
Call me if you want to sort it out.

If its a car the tester is unsure of they will tend to fail it, we had a magna with huge rust problems, passed every year. Go and see Golf Loon.

You can try ten testers if you like. You need no loyalty there.

Bring it to me and I`ll help you sort it.

You are allowed to drive a vehicle for registration purposes, provided you have a written statement of intent with you.

                      Mine read like this

                      STATEMENT OF INTENT
I Golf Loon of 22 Somewhere Ave, Camden, 2570, NSW do intend to drive VW GOLF VIN WVWZZZ1H2SN4429998 to
A Mechanical Shop, Somewhere Place, Narellan for Registration Purposes. And to the RTA at Campbelltown.

                      Date 23/01/2008

                      Signed

                      Licence 14200000

I have been pulled over twice with no plates and one of these statements and both times the cops read it and waved me on my way.

Check with the RTA if you dont believe me.

Or I`ll arrange a tow for you for $100.
