  • Mk2 turn signal stalk - LHD/RHD difference

I think I need a new indicator stalk, is there any difference between LHD and RHD cars ?

Would this fit RHD car ? VW MK2 Jetta Golf Turn Signal Hi Beam Stalk New | eBay

Is it available locally without breaking bank ?

Alternatively, is it rebuildable ? I see it has quite a bit of copper green stuff inside, if it can be pulled apart and clean, it should be fine.

if it goes on the same side as what you have already it should be fine.
Often in import cars the steering colomn and all the bits is simply swapped to the opposite side - your indicator stalk would be on the outside for a local made car - if it is pointing towards the inside, you car was made in a country where LHD is predominant.
My mk4 indicator stalk is on the LHS of the column - imported car.
You should be fine, but I'm not a mk2 expert

Yes mk2's always had the indicator on the LHS of the column, as do a lot of European cars. Most of these car are LHD, so they put the indicator furthest away from the gear stick, for 'ease of driving'.

BUT mk2's had various stalks, mainly wiper. So make sure it's an early one or a later one depending on your build year

If its all green just clean the verdigris off it and it will work again just caused by corrosion. Some baking soda in water will clean that.

They are all hide inside, unless I soak the whole thing in baking soda water otherwise there is no other way to clean it, thanks for opinion anyway.
