Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          • Big fan of this car, love the Mk2, and the AAA engine. I also went the BFI mounts on the VR and they made a massive difference... smoothed it out nicely.

I've watched 'Mk2 VR6 take off' on youtube probably a billion times, I'm sure you've seen it but if not have a look and enjoy that low down grumble that only the dirty old 12 valves get. Mmmmm.

                      • hey guys just thought id update, i swapped out my rad for a brand new one and at the same time put on a set of twin 3 speed fans of 16v seat. with a bit of mods to the shroud it fits when you run a mk3 vr6 rad in the front position where the air con normally goes.
I wasnt getting any over heating problems with my old setup of a mod'd mk1 shroud and slimline fan running straight of the thermo switch. but had these bits so i made it better.
                        cheers

                        • another update, still running well. i ported out my exhaust manifold and down pipe, after many hrs of die grinding and getting welders burn its back together and has a new found willingness to pull further up into the revs. considering next a 2.9l clone manifold.
