The Beast has returned.
Those of you that saw it on the Sydney Cruise would have been aware of its sickness.
Since then it has had a proper Mk2 Gearbox fitted, with the correct engine mount, which means I can now get 5th and the motor sits at the correct angle.
I have kept the 1.9 bottom end, but replaced the head with a genuine GTI head with big valves, which I have just had rebuilt.
It is currently running on a Twin throat Pierburg carby, but I have left all the sensors etc on the motor so that I can change it over to efi at a future date if I want to.
Started it up today and it purrs like a kitten, no lifter noise and makes an awesome noise when you open the throttle. It was getting dark, so I settled for cleaning it and will go for a good test drive tomorrow.
I still need to sell it really, as I have a new VR6 in the driveway so am open to expressions of interest in the region of $4500.
