Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

hmmm you guys are realy discouraging.

There cant be alot of go from 77kw anyway.

The ofset of the wheels is et35. If they dont fit, and if they realy are as bad as you all make them out to be ill sell them.

Like it has been said before.

What do you really what to do with the car?

My mum doesn't exactly race around so her's is perfect for cruising around in.

        BBS RX's 17x7.5", ET35 205/40R17

        I wouldn't say it look's stupid either.

I've got 17's on my MK2 with 205/40R17, lowered 40mm. It was a tight squeeze for mine and they still rub with a full carload. There was alot of time spent with the angle grinder, i've had to fit G60 arches on the front and cut away the metal underneath (thanks carl), but i got the VR6 brakes and the lower control arms pump the wheels out more on the front. I say go for it

HAHA, talk me out of it then talk me in to it! Damn you guys.

I was going to get a set of BBS RX, the same as above, but due to the negative response to 17's on a mk2 and personal reasons I pulled out of the sale.

17"s do look fantastic, espcialy the RX, the car isnt that fast in the first place so I seriously doubt handling will be made as bad as you all make it out to be.

I just hope the seller isnt to pissed of with me haha

I might just have to settle for a set of cheap steelies for now. Anyone selling?

You should have mentioned what they were at the start. I'd be all over them!

lol making us feel all guilty now! addmittedly those rx's are nice wheels and they dont look too silly on the mk2. but the 16s have so much more class and are much more in proportion with the car also imo. do what you want... just as long as thats not putting 20" chromies with 15degree neg camber

                        Cheers fella's.

                        It's actually "grandma's". Forgot she has a grandson & I have a nephew!

But I still think of her as mum.
