Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Got a chance to take a couple of photos so thought id post them up, nothing spesh im no photographer!

more to come of interior and of things that need to be done and what not.

Paid 5250 for her, shes an 88 england import, hasn't had any problems yet, have about 6G in receipts from previous owner just from servicing he said he really took care of her and wanted to make it a hillclimb machine, but his son lost interest. I however will not
And shes clean as fook too.. under the wheels still white, good tread, decent interior, and not tooooo much rust.

Might change the colour... cause white, fml gotta wash it everyday, but dunno any other colours that look as good!

Also stayed tuned on this thing becoming a 20V

The beesting aerial was a 16v feature IIRC and not on 8vs, maybe on higher spec models also (G60 etc).

Great little car Mitch, congratulations. None of my business really but if it were mine I'd change those VW centre cap stickers for BBS ones ASAP the VW emblem looks a little out of place IMO.

Nice! Definitely keep it white. In fact, from the pictures, I wouldn't even bother respraying, just fix up the rust spots and she'll be sweet! Plus, original paint adds to the character of the car IMO

              Congrats!

Haha, I say change the caps for BBS ones anyway

I agree with Domel on the color. But I have always been a white car fan.

Ha ha, for me, how sweet

Pearl white wouldn't work on an older car with black/grey trim. If it was older again, with chrome trim it "could" work, but still wouldn't be very nice IMO.
If you want to change the color I'd say go for a factory color, atlas grey, oak green, the same blue as Dave/stigs, black, red. At least this way it won't be a "trend" color that you may regret at some point.

Nice one mate, great original condition! Carl is right about the bee sting - 16V/G60/Rallye had those, also had the cut-outs in the front spoiler for brake cooling ducts on the small bumper model 16V. Need to sort that rear wiper! You can get them to lay flat to the right, google and find a how to.

yeh dude it was sitting flat! till i touched the wiper handle thing to try make it work and ruined it! haha i need a new wiper blade indicator thing! its snapped!

is this the bee sting thing?
