Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • choking 8v gti

hi guys, well after the track day last week i noticed the car starts to choke (the only way i can describe it) around 3k rpm.
Feels like its not getting all the fuel is should, now i can hear the fuel pump priming and there is no issue when in neutral, just under load.

also could anyone describe the rev limiter system to me. I know it had one but now it somewhat does not engage.

does it have the factory catylitic converter? I ask this because I had a similar issue, it wouldn't accelerate, especially going up hill. found that my converter had melted, collapsed.

Is this under WOT or partial throttle?

mines does it at half throttle around 3k, haven't heard any rattles from the cat, i know my exhaust is as loud as hell and actually gives me a headache on long drives.

ill take it for a drive tomorrow and sus out as much as possible and report back.

I've got no cat and haven't had this issue. Alternatively maybe get a swirl pot?
