Aus delivered GTIs have central locking?

Calling all people with Aus delivered Gtis

Did they all have central locking? is it the vacuum operated type?

I owned one which has central locking, yes it is vacuum type. Not sure if it was standard or optional

Pretty sure they were vacuum operated from stock. My is vacuum so was my ibiza and so I my brothers..

thanks guys. I've misplaced the long connecting rod from the vacuum actuator and the lock itself, if I can't find it good to know I'll be able to pinch one off an Aussie car.

My car is a euro import.

If I were you I'd replace it with aftermarket central locking kit.
Previous owner of my current Mk2 did that, much better than the 20+ old vacuum operated CL.

It's vacuum and pump to be picky.

I'm surprised ours is still reliable being 21 years old.

yeah mine works great it's just not connected to the tailgate lock

dont think they are connected to the rear from stock?

mine works but yeah a key is used for the rear hatch

mine didnt work when I first bought the car because a hose had come loose at the rear door. I had to plug the pipe and the door locks worked again. Unfortuanatlly some previous owner removed the fuel filler cover lock, probably because it wouldnt work with the central locking and I have to find a new one )-:
