thanks guys. I've misplaced the long connecting rod from the vacuum actuator and the lock itself, if I can't find it good to know I'll be able to pinch one off an Aussie car.
If I were you I'd replace it with aftermarket central locking kit.
Previous owner of my current Mk2 did that, much better than the 20+ old vacuum operated CL.
mine didnt work when I first bought the car because a hose had come loose at the rear door. I had to plug the pipe and the door locks worked again. Unfortuanatlly some previous owner removed the fuel filler cover lock, probably because it wouldnt work with the central locking and I have to find a new one )-:
