Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

dont let them source your parts though it will be damm expensive, do the work yourself and get them, to paint, should work out the white car i fixed or am fixing was a little worse, they build em strong

Yeah dubstar is right, chase up a guard and front panel yourself and just take it to em for painting. Under 1000 then I`d say.

ah cheers for the help fellas. yeh i wouldnt mind fixing it my self, but it would take me ages i reckon. and i need it to get around, today i had to catch a taxi. i took it to one place before, and they just looked at it and guessed it would be about 2-3k. its at another place now and the guys gona take a proper look at it tomoz (i expect this guy to be cheaper). ill see wat he says it needs done, and then ill consider doing it myself.

ah i dont remember starting this thread! the mods must have cut it from another one, cheers.

anyway ive got the car back. just waiting for the headlights and indicators to come from america (its been two weeks, shouldnt be far away ((i hope))). ended up costing a smidge over 2k. i got the front bar from GTI Imports in sydney, and the panel beater got the guard.

when did your mate own it ausgolfer?? how long did he have it for??

syncro, you were thinking what I was thinking too! Lights from the USA are for LHD countries, and not suitable & illegal for use here...check that they have the correct beam pattern, and dip to the left, not the right!

hmm not real sure. cuz they use H4 bulbs, US model cars use 9004 bulbs or something. so they could be LHD after all. but some of them have a LHD or RHD setting. suppose ill find out when they arrive
