  • taking off 22yr old stickers

im in the process of taking the now 'pink' stripe off the side of the golf and i want to know the best way to do it.

what ive been doing is using a hair dryer and WD-40/orange citrus spray combination.

    any other ideas?

    That's what I did.
But Eucalyptus (that's a hard word to spell) worked best for me, in combination with the heat gun.

Put off the project for 6 months and try again in Summer.

I had a similar project about this time last year - removing the vinyl wrap from the Polo to pave the way for a new colour. I tried working through it with a heat gun and eucalyptus, but it took forever and the vinyl kept breaking off rather than peeling away nicely and I just gave up.

I tried again one hot day in January after the car had been sitting outside in the sun for a few hours, and the vinyl just peeled off smoothly. It seems mild consistent heat across the whole piece of vinyl is far better than concentrated heat from a gun or hair dryer.

Alternatively if you've got a heated garage, jack the temp up as high as it will go and let it bake for a couple of hours before trying.

yeah, i used a hair dryer and acetone and had a lot of patience that day.. dont use a heat gun, they get to hot and can blister the paint if your not careful

                I don't think so!

You, got it confused with the carby cleaner.
