Ryan, no mk2's EVER came out with an 8v 2 litre except for a very small amount in 1993 in North America, so thats had an engine conversion from a mk3 (hence why i said before i would be apprehensive about any S.A car because theyve often been stolen, rebirthed, recovered, and stolen again, sold, bought, modified...), those 14" ronal type wheels were factory on a lot of SA GTI's though.
That rear GTi badge is also new to me too.
Does it have a cigarette lighter, or just a hole that is blanked off?Last edited by GOLFBALLS; 20-05-2012, 02:37 AM.-1990 Mk2 GTI 5-door with AMK 20vt (260hp @ wheels)

Going by the "certificate of of proof fitment of Alarm system" in my service manual, the 2E has been in this car since 08/07/92.

Yup, just going thru ETKA and the only 2.0 i can see is a 9A engine, which just say Golf "CALIFORNIA" 08/89 - 07/91...
I wouldnt necessarily say Ryan's car is rebirthed, but that wont be the original engine.
Back on topic though, did the OP buy that car yet?-1990 Mk2 GTI 5-door with AMK 20vt (260hp @ wheels)

Off topic again - VW SA might have done what BMW SA did around the same time as well, where they ended up with some spare m30b32 engines from the 5 and 7-series production lines and so decided to whack them into the e30 shells creating the 333i - only about 210 of these were ever produced, but you will struggle to find any official data from BMW (or places like realoem.com, etc.). I know this is BMW, but some weird things were happening in SA factories back then and I still reckon Ryan's Mk2 2E could be the real deal.- Mk2 Golf GTI 16v, 2-door, Tornado Rot, BBS RS, 1988 - SOLD
- E30 325i Coupe, Manual, Alpinweiss
- E30 325i Touring, Manual, Diamantschwarz x 2
- On the lookout for another E30 325i Coupe, Manual (red would be nice)...
