  • leaking heater matrix

    the heater matrix is leaking in the new mk2 , is the swap hard, any experience???obviously the full dash out.

    I've had to do that job on a mk2 GTD, wasn't that hard, just took some time. Also my car was LHD and no airconditioning so it would be a bit different to yours. I didn't have to take the full dash out, just the centre console and the lower panels on the dash. It's a common problem - I remember the local parts store had the heater matrix in stock, they were selling so many of them!

      Don't use asecond hand heater core. Make sure you buy a golf3 item even if you have to fork out $300 for it from the dealer. The golf2 ones were always a problem thats why they put the pressure restrictor in the coolant hose.

        Wise words, although if you buy a SEAT cordoba one it is the same as Golf 3, but cheaper!
