Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Guten tag mein Dubbers,

I have managed to score some G60 15" steel rims for my MK2 and I was wondering what rubber to put on them?

Thinking 195x45's..... Would these be too wide, too low profile?

    Cheers

Those wheels were designed for running M+S tyres, these would have been 185/55-15 on a GTI G60 and most likely 205/50-15 on a Rallye. I have been trying a while to remember what was on the Fahrzeugbrief that came with my GTI G60 as that stated what was allowable.
For me you could get away with anything between 185/55 to 205/50 and not be wrong. I personally always ran 195/50s. 45 series will probably affect the speedo reading too much.

    Gavin
