  • IGeL's Mk2 Golf 16V GTi Project (Lots of pictures)

Well I'm going to start my story here from the biggining till now.

My dad used to have 2 MkI Golf's
    5 Door LS
    3 Door GTI 8V
Allways had a special peculiar interest for VW's or VAG autos.
Since my 14th birthday i dreamed having a Golf, at my 14 i got a XR2 Ford, i unsembled it in a try of egine overhaul till now i still have parts do mount and the engine doesnt start.. Ignition problems.. anyway I allways been in a persuit of a MkII Golf GTI 16V i couldnt find a decent one for 4 years till i got the money to buy a decent one i was 21.

Story of the car till now:

The car suffered the attempet of theft (Tried to take the car 3 Times) and since they couldnt take the car because the car had a fuel pump failure the car wouldn´t start.
What where their conclusion? Vandalize the car, took the stereo, the unit, pulled the headliner down, scratched the paint, fk#d up the boot lock, fk#d up the lower section of the dash, since they tryed to hotwire it.
And i was lucky still, that they didnt took the car on a trailer, they do that or they did before on that zone. The previous owner repainted, and fixed the car, and they did it again, this more 3 times till the previous owner quit on the car and just left it stopped for a year till he sold it to me..

(Pictures sent to me during the negotiation process)

Day 2 of the mounth Jully 2011
I was receiving the car at my garage, and some more parts arrived aswell.
Still looking for most of the parts to fit my "Digifiz" on the car

    Started the Clean up (interior)

After that i had a major problem that cost me 600€ and the risk of the car incinerate it self.
The Fuel Pump that was suppose to be new, was leaking like a shower on summer, plus that the car wont start when its cold, the intake gasket is fkd the valve cover gasket is also fkd, the iginition lead are also fkd, the gearbox selector i dont know the name in english for the parts i bought, but i bought new stuff for it cause the reverse was not working and the exhaust holding rubbers didnt exist exept 1, it was being held by the headers and 1 almost breaking. 600€ after i got it fixed and got a new Bosh highpressure pump.

Then i found this Raid Steering wheel that was inserted on a wood frame, made by my dad, that was used on one of his MkI's
        Needs some restauration also.

Then after i got a bit afraid of the fuel liking problem and the risk of get fire on my ass, i bought an extinguisher.
And started for the first time on body restauration..

Started the rear quarter panel from the right side..

1St time doing this ever !

The best paint work on the car

                  Still need to polish this..

Well there are still some things to be improved yet being resolved..

All of this was made in 2 weeks time.. kinda slow but yeah, the car was on the shop to fix the other stuff during one week, and since i received the car i was with no problems during 1 week, then was the chaos, and now moving towards the good direction.
And with a Student Budget things move really slow.

Found This Sabelt 6-point Harness in my garge that i used before on my Fiesta XR2
I'm fitting them on the golf maybe when i get bucket seats.

Mean while also got this kit, that is still storaged to be fitted when the car goes to the bodyshop for a total body restauration.

                    Then the Coil's arrived, LowTec's 9.1
                    Then we fitted them..
