Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • fuel pick-up problems . . .

firstly, thanks for looking! secondly, i've upgraded/repaired my fuel system which includes a bigger than standard k-jet fuel pump (from a bigger audi i think), full braided lines with speedflow fittings, and a high flow fuel filter.

So heres the problem, the inlet to the fuel pump is quiet a bit bigger than the outlet of the fuel tank; To rectify this, i used multipul fittings to upsize the tank pipe so that i can connect the it to the fuel pump. although now i feel like the pump isn't getting enough juice cuz it makes inconsistant noises and its possibly due to the pipe going from small and poxy to a large one; if you can imagine trying to drink a soda with a straw that starts small and gets bigger at the end . . . .

can i modify the fuel tank in some way? and also while im here, do we need that accumulator?

This outlet needs to be bigger . . .

and heres a dodgey pic of the fittings (cars to low and couldnt b arsed jacking it up)

    Sorry its long and winded . . . . . . THNKS!!! . . . Alex
