Mk2 GTI 16v help needed - wont start/turn over

Engines only need 3 things to run, air, fuel and spark. If you have all these (and they're running in the right order) I'd start looking for other issues.

it's worth while going over, and double check all the earthing points, esp around the ECU.

There could be other things at play, failing ECU and or ignition module are possible. The other I would look at are all the connections in the intake between the air meter and the throttle. Your car won't run with out this being connected up. I had the same issue once and the intake boot had fallen off at the throttle.

Remember it's a digifant 2 GTI here.

I might add replacing the main earth from the battery to starter and chassis and positive lead to starter might assist with the slow winding.
