Gearbox oil Choice/Experiences

Recent experiences with driving the MK2 from cold havn't been too great.

Atm, my shift pattern is 1st, 2nd, 4th. With alot of cringing going into second and third.

I replaced the gearbox oil around a year ago with a syn 75w-90 GL-5, which for a while worked great.
(bushes were all replaced over a year ago)

Now the g'box currently on the car has done over 300,000km, and I understand it'll probably never shift like new

Anybody have opinons/experience with Redline MT-90, MTL 70w80, VMX 80 or other synthetic oils?

i had the 1st to 2nd crunch when shifting fast or at higher revs, read the threads about the fancy synthetic gearbox oil and found your run of the mill ATF was the same specs, im running Dextron 3 (thats what i had) and the crunch went away, and all is good.
