Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

folks ... just want to get some info ?? i have a 16v kr in my mk1 golf , lately its getting hard to start ... when it starts, it chugs a little until i put a little bit of accelerator on then its fine , if i give some revs to 1200 rpm for a min or two , it will then idle at aroun 900 to 1000 , and its all good .
Then some days after a drive when its warm it will take a while for the engine to start ? maybe ten seconds !!
So maybe i asume it could be injectors or my fuel pump or even a filter ? not sure , while im driving and come to a stop sign ect.... its fine , doesnt stall , has good mid range acceleration , great but , just starting issues . shane

fuel pressure could be dropping of after the car is switched off, need to check the accumalator holding pressure.

hard starting when hot could also be fuel vapourising in the lines ( heat soak) later kjet used a purging relay set up to bleed the fuel vapour from the cold start valve to "fix" the problem.

Sounds like it could do with a fuel system pressure test Shane.
      Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

      Cheers,
