  • temp gauge issues

my temp gauge decided to stop working not too long ago, but will read on random occasions (every few days).
so thinking it was the coolant temp sender, i bought a new sender, but im not sure if it's right - looks different to the one in the block.
car is k-jet and the sender has VW/Audi stamped on it and part no. 049919501.

i found this pic vortex but it too looks different to the original one.

is it the sender or would the gauge be faulty?? can it be fixed??
    cheers

The sender in your main picture is the sender for the temp gauge. The other 2 pictures show sensors that give temp info to the ECU.
Check your earth circuit for the temp gauge first. VW temp gauges are quite reliable. I think a good instrument repair shop could repair it.
If it can't be repaired, I don't think the gauge would be too expensive to buy.

      all work out
i tried earthing it (according to bentley manual). gauge didn't move.. which i think means gauge is faulty.
but i changed the sender and now the gauge works. i dont get it:S
