  • Alternator

    I need to replace my alternator so i bought a 2nd hand re-conditioned unit as a replacement. I was going to fit it myself but as with everything on my car i've run into a problem

    My current alternator has a plug type connector running to the battery & starter;

    but the new one doesn't have a place to plug this into;

    The pug opens at the top so i am guessing the connections can be taken out;

    So my question is can i some make the new alternator work with a bit of re-wiring or do i need a new connector or another alternator.

    Cheers

    The two red wires on your plug go to the battery, crimp both of them onto a ring end and put it where the big nut is on the new Alt,
    The Blue wire will go the smaller nut on New Alt

      Presto, he's on it!
      The blue wire is part of the exciter circuit, goes on the smaller nut on the new alt like Mr Green said.

      Man that wiring is tiny!
      Upgrade to 4/2 gauge wiring if you've got the time to make some new leads.
