If money isn't an issue and you want rear wheel drive, why dont you just get an E46 M3? Or turbo a 1 series 135i if you still want a hatch??
I'm guessing you like the mk2 Golf because of its handling and relatively light weight? Well, a VR6/R32 turbo conversion is all well and good for insane power, but you will destroy the nimble feel of the mk2 chassis that you liked in the beginning, thus making the project a bit self defeating. Plus, all that power in a front driver and the car will be all over the place to drive. My mk2 1.8t has 250hp at the front wheels with a LSD and even that is a real handful!
Buy an R32, turbo it and be done with it!!??
