Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Should I sell her? Half of me wants to keep her!!

It pains me so much to have to sell my beloved GTI!

After a relaxing drive through the mountains behind Byron Bay yesterday (I say relaxing-I had my wife and 16month old in the car lol), I'm trying to resist the temptation to keep it and just put it into storage and drive it when ever I come back for holidays!

You could, keep the MK2 as a Weekender/semi project.
Work on the Super as a project.
And buy the bloody Tiguan for your family

    PS,
That picture is going in the MK2 pic thread.
MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here*
80 series - The MK2's BIG, Sooty, polar opposite...

Keep it. You'll regret selling it & no one likes regret.

Nice ride, just bought the silver SA one in the for sale, am curious as to your suspension setup, mine scrubs a little bit, yours still looks good but has more suspension travel like in after, dont want to buy the wrong parts to replace what i have

          Cheers Mark

PS, i think i want to collect all the golfs i see, im getting hooked, yours looks very nice and a bargain at the price.

              Thanks,
as far as I know its the stock suspension set up! It does have 15 in rims which help to fill the void a bit, but it still scrubs abit in the back when fully loaded. Only on the bumpy back roads though.

Unfortunately I put ad up on carsales yesterday and already had phone calls.
One caller wanted to swap for a 1990 corolla! haha even if it is a 16V Twin Cam I wouldnt be interested! I politely said no swaps... fought of the temptation to abuse them on the phone. lol kidding.

I remember this car- took it for a drive before you bought it when I had the red one.

If you're planning on staying in aus and have garage space keep it and have some project fun- it was a straight car and you could make it into something special. I'd love to have another one some day to play around with and still think about finding one in the UK to bring back

                  ็ำHey Tam!
What ever happened to your red MK2?
I so want to keep it! It comes down to needing money to pay deposit on our new car we are buying overseas. Also the garage where it is currently kept is being sold (along with the house lol, mums moving)
I tried hunting for a MK2 over there but no straight ones.

I may still keep my MK2 here,

The Mk2 is staying in the family!!!!

Finally made up my mind to keep her.

Will be giving her a good blast to Sydney on wednesday and then she will be wrapped up for 6 months while I go back OS to work.

SAve Save Save --- project engine planning time haha
