Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

What's involved with this? My main pump has died and am now carless and it's stuck in the middle of BF no where!

Pretty sure they are different. The MK1 GTI pump is inline. The MK2 is like the photo above.

Does anyone know how to fit the mk1 pump into the mk2?

you could fit a mk1 pump with tonnes of modifications..BUT.cheaper to buy the MK2 pump than to modify it, and a lot less effort.

The mk1 pump works different, and will not fit into the surge Tank of a mk2, running one inline would involve doing away with the surge tank accumulator and you would have to make up new piping and custom Banjo fittings...So as far as a patch up job...It won't work.
I think your MK2 is also Digi??? Kjet would pump way way too much pressure.

nah.. It's a Kjet. 84 GTI. If I could find a mk2 pump I would fit it, but at the moment, I've changed the lifter pump in the hope it is that but no joy!
