i need to get 4 new tyres 185x55xR15 (i know there small but there on 6 inch rims)
i was looking at yokohama s-drive or michelin pilot sport 3....
can anyone suggest anything else??
Sorry can't help with the size but if i had the choice i'd go for the michelins because they are a good grippy tyre. I had Pilots on my MK2 GTI in the UK but the rims were 7" wide.
Haha I was just calling around for tyres yesterday.
I run the 195/50 15's and have had GT radials for 4 years. They wear better than the RE001's I had and the grip was on par for street use. The GT's were useless at the track though and just folded after a couple of laps. They were about $100 balanced & fitted 5 yrs ago.
I called various places yesterday and got a leukwarm reaction to the opinions on Michelins for the price you pay.
I'm probably gonna go for the Toyo Proxy-4 option at $145 b&n'd each considering some sprint events are on the agenda. The guy said the Yokohama s-drives were as good but an extra $40 each can't be justified, or a cheaper option would be the Kumho KU30's at $118. Might investigate the continentals next...
