Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Roadworthy Certificate

    Hey Team,

    I am based in St Kilda, Melbourne and need to swap over the rego on my '85 MK II GTI.

    It's pretty damn straight as is but I don't want to get the runaround when I go to get the RWC.

    Any recommendations?

    Happy to drive for it. As long as I can get it done.

    Make sure nothing is leaking and dripping on the ground
    Make sure all the lights & indicators work
    Make sure the wipers work
    It may seem trivial but give it a clean too, first impressions and all that. If the car looks clean & well looked after there is less chance the tester will think it's a wreck.

      take it to somewhere that's not familiar with volkswagens is my advice.

      I've used Kmart tyre and auto a couple times, without any major issues.

        I have de-wipered my rear wiper, is that bad? I've just plugged and sealed the hole. I plan on getting a rwc for it.

          As there is no wiper there it should be alright. If the wiper was there and didn't work it would be an issue.
