Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bendix Rear Pads

The rear pads on the MK2 seem to be getting to the point where they're gonna need replacing (I think I can hear the wear indicator).

I was thinking of just replacing them with some Bendix pads as they seem to be one of the better pads avaibliable here. Only problem is I'm not too certain on the part number/which pads are right.

According the Bendix website Catalogue | Bendix it could be DB1192 for GTI's between 87-89 or for GTI's between 84-91 rear sets don't exist?

The car is a 1992 GTI Golf, is there a differance in rotor sizes/calipers between these years? Would knowing the rear rotor size help me out?

It seems like such a simple question ('which brake pads fit my car'), but I guess not with Euro cars

    Thanks

The best would be to remove the brake pad and compare it to the shape in the Bendix catalog. Or at last look at the shape of the pad still fitted in the brake, that could give you some clue about the shape of the pad.
