  • Interesting start-up

When I first bought my MK2, for the first few months it would easily start by the 4-5th compression stroke, I really only needed to run the starter for a second for it to start.

However over the last month I've noticed that it has become consistantly harder to start (from cold).

When starting it I can either hold the starter on for 5 maybe 6 seconds and it will cough into life, or I can run the starter for 3-4 seconds, switch it off and then hit the ignition again when it'll literally start in less than a second.
Heres a basic video of what I mean....

    Some info on the car
-Its a 2E engine running Digi 2 ECU,
-I've checked for fuel leaks, and replaced the fuel lines onto the rail
-Ive checked and found no vacuum leaks,
-I always let the fuel pump pressurize the system (before starting)
-Recently replaced the Blue Temp Sensor
-Its running a 20W50 oil (about due for a change in 400km)

The manual reccommends slightly depressing the accelerator on start-up but this makes no real differance either.

If the engine is warm or has been used in the last 8 or so hours it still kicks into life instantly, only seems to have this problem if the car has been sitting overnight.

Am I right in thinking that its not recieving fuel or possibly dirty/faulty injectors?

    Thanks

Had similar issues with my mk 2 a while ago. now it doesn't start. Suspected fuel pump issues!
