Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Golf MkII Stalls just after start when hot

    Hi,

I'm a recent owner of MkII Golf, 1.3L Multipoint injection (digijet litte brother of the digifant) 1987 model. In the morning when the car is cold its starts just fine. When its already run and hot, if i cut the engine and wait five minuites before starting it again it runs fine for 10 seconds, starts to wobble and dies. If while its wobbeling I rev the engine for half a minuit or so, it starts to run fine.

    Thing i've already done:

    - Changed spark plus, wiring and distributor.
    - Changed the thing near the air filter that mesures the amout of air and its temp. (not sure of the name in english)
    - Changed the idle control valve
    - Changed both coolant temp. sensors.
    - Checked for vacuum leaks.
    - Unplugging the lambda (oxygen sensor) makes thing worse so i'm assuming its not that.

I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with the ignition scince if i spray some brake cleaner in the air filter box when the car is almost stalling its runs better...

Any help would be grately appreciated... I'm not far off from ripping some out

EDIT: Today she just stalled while i was driving, she's never done that before. There was no more power, nothing so i stopped, the engine stalled, i started her up again and she ran fine... any ideas?
