    The Mk1 got written off badly after brake failure. The rebuild is really well documented on CGTI at the moment and offers some great insights into why the car is so quick There's also a video of the crash somewhere around the site.

          Interesting look, I think at the time of this the mk1 had the 1.8T recently installed and "slightly" modded (about 300hp), and the mk2 still had a highly tuned naturally aspirated 16v. But as we can all see they both have 1.8T's now.
