Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 1.8l 8v injectors - which ones and from where?

My BBM fuel rail and adjustable FPR has arrived and its time for installation. Whilst im at it I am considering checking my injectors and possibly replacing/upgrading them.

Any recommendations on which injectors will make a good and modest upgrade and where is the best place to source?

If you are doing some serious mods to your engine you may consider fitting aftermarket engine management along with larger injectors, though if you are sticking with the standard computer keep the standard injectors and just have them ultrasonically cleaned replacing the seals aswell. You can play with the fuel pressure regulator whilst monitoring it on a dyno and see if raising the pressure slightly yields any gains.

      Thanks for the help.

Nothing too crazy in the way of mods... at this point its a:

      Autotech 270 cam
      Autotech 4-2-1 exhaust header
      Nocat - hiflow cat
Techtonics HD springs and hiflow exhaust valves retainers etc
      Lightweight hydrolic lifters
      Cold intake air filter
      BBM fuel rail
      Sard adjustable FPR
and playing with a bmw 735i AMM at the momment...

I have installed a wide band air/fuel ratio gauge so was going to see what info I can get from that. I will up the fuel pressure and see what comes of it.
