  • My dash cluster

    Yo.

When driving the MK2 yesterday arvo I could hear a very regular clicking sound. It would go as a "click-click-pause..... click-click"

I also noticed that the rate would increase with speed.

I am assuming the speedo cable is the cause, but that clip on the back there is a bitch, I can't see itself coming loose?

    Anyone experience this?

Clip is loose, speedo is slipping and not reading true.
If you have large hands undoo it from the engine end, pull through the cable into the cabin, connect to dash, then feed it through.

I just thought I would undo the dash fascia, and reconnect it at the back of the cluster.

I still can't find a three pronged plug for the underdash wire...

Well Tom I bagged and labelled every screw. I had done the indicators before so I didn't need to label those.

Well everything works except the MFA switch on the wiper stalk. When I press it the trip computer doesn't change.

You know the top one might be from the alarm. I'm guessing it might piggy back the headlight switch.

I was going to suggest alarm wiring, mine had the remains of a system; they were expensive cars in the day and easy to break into and hot wire, so I gather a lot of them had alarms fitted
