Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My new (car/project/daily/toy/money pit) MkII GTI 16v

Couldn't resist this when Matt put it up for sale. My project car has been doing my head in due to lack of time/skills/commitment etc and I was going to be looking for a MkII to be my daily in november when the lease runs out on my Polo. The fact its got a Loon'd ABF install certainly got my attention!

Matt's done an awesome job on this conversion with insane wiring to make it as OEM (clocks etc) as possible.

So after I got it home I went hard at it cleaning and swapping in my interior and other cosmetic parts.

Anyway, don't think ill start a project thread (Look where it got me last time :p) even though Ive got a long list of things I want and to do. Just gonna do stuff when I can and enjoy driving it!

Anyway heres some dodgy phone pics...

Good to see you getting stuck in Mate.
Recaros look phenomenal. Finally a worthy interior for that car.

yeah been getting stuck into it pretty hard and making a list of things to do/fix but is running awesome. Really pulls hard on the open road...especially compared to the old aussie 1.8 8v!

With the tail lights, needs clear top/red bottom I reckon. Seems to work nicely with white/silver cars... like these..

Probably first on the shopping list is suspension, then wheels although not too keen on running BBS RS/RM (even though id love to) as a daily. Only a matter of time before I end up with a bent dish, plus the cleaning is a nightmare.

With the bumpers...they need spraying, will go the black paint option as it lasts longer than any treatment product.
