hey hey. nut bags here
soz folks. i dunno what's what around here. i'll learn.
and yeah, i'll sort some pics in the light of day.
fwiw, i just bought an xr5t (only cos there's no good 3 door mk5s around).
so now i have to work out whether someone wants this more than me?
else, i'm taking it to the track: YouTube - Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk2 Fifth Gear I
but am interested in any advice people wanna throw.
spec:
1984 golf gti mk2 16v 3 door (uk import)
125k miles (odo stopped at xmas)
oak green (needs full respray)
zender body kit (minus nose thanks to best mate doing a u-turn in a tight v-shaped fitzroy coblestone street)
zender 15" wheels (195-50-15) (bizarely, there were 5 zender rims until girlfriend hit pothole on her way to a bloody daylseford hen's day spa)
standard black/green recaros (need restore)
history:
90% driven in melbourne. occassional trips to otways. twice up to the gold coast and back.
never tracked (yet).
all original, no mods (other than the zender stuff), no bingles.
i think i'm the 3rd or 4th (proud) owner.
was garaged until i went o/s 5 years ago, when it moved to warranwood - hence current need for respray
bought off my godmother in 2000 (godfather had 1973 porsche 911e)
godparents got it in late 80s, trading in a mk1 gti with the importer (at about 25k miles)
got the first owner certificate from uk
servicing:
- currently with volks affair (who are ace!): just replaced starter, and oil & water temperature sensors
- previously volkswagen guys in clifton hill (closed)
- before that toni's prestige motors in south melbourne
- and log book before that
Do you have any other details or paperwork on this? Im trying to work out how many 1984 GTi's there are. Mine was first registered July 84!
And there's a bunch of letters & numbers that I can't really make sense of...
Type: wuw zzz 19 (- or z ?) ew 589 113
Engine code letters (gearbox code): 192 334
