  • US Door Handles

Question; was wondering if anyone has bought Hella genuine door handles for a Mk2 from GermanAutoParts in the US ?

Im looking to buy some other stuff and was looking at the door handles; price seems really reasonable, I was wondering would the US Door handles differ ? I assumed rear no change, and the front ones both have locks/barrels so they should (in theory) be ok ?

Anyone sourced them through the US ? I cant imagine LHD cars having different door handles, but nothing would surprise me I guess...

    Cheers

i've currently got UK, US, repro chinese and SA door handles on my mk2.

they're all the same really. if you fit remote central locking, you can even use rear door handles on the front.

I've seen the gap ones before, they're great, but i find if they have a bad action to them, they're usually adjustable to an extent. Or take them out and clean out the 20 years of grit/grime/junk.

if i bought them from overseas, i wouldn't worry about the lock barrels. just take out your own lock barrels and put them inside the new handles. ( they'll fit ) i mean the external dimensions of golf 1, ts passat, specific porshce models, mk2 all have the same handles. It's just the actuators for the door lock module that differ.

Bought handles (original Hellas) from GAP for the Mk2; for anyone thats interested they fit great, no issues at all, the hardest part of the fit is squeezing the new gaskets on.

I was surprised that a handle could be swapped in under 5 minutes....
