Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Opening a broken door

My bro was driving the MK2 recently and and he said the drivers door won't open.

I had a look and sure enough you can't open it from the outside or inside.

Now I know how to get the trim off and probably fix it up but how do I open the door manually?

    Thanks

this may sound silly but has the door lock got stuck halfway, mine does this sometimes and the door will not open from inside or outside yet all the others do. arpart from that, you need to pull on the rod going to the catch you may have to fiddle with a coat hanger and stick it between the door and window

Thank Tom. You're always good for help.

So should I try and take the hard plastic trim off the windows edge first? That's what I was planning on doing.
