Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Aftermarket seats in a MK2 2 door

Anyone know where to get aftermarket seat bases for a mk2 golf? I'm getting fed up with the low slung seating. Great for trackdays/racing but not for general driving. I'm running Corrado fronts, so low slung from the start, but the height adjustment doesn't put the seating position into the right ... er.. position!

Needs to tilt as it's a 2 door.

    Cheers

I had to get some custom made to fit a pair of recaro fishnets into my MK3 using cut down standard seat bases with adapters welded on to suit the bottom mounts of the new seats. I think the MK3 and MK2s run the same seat bases? If so, I still have the rails (which I no longer need as I went to a VR interior). Let me know if you would like them, they could be easily modded (ie drill new holes) to suit alot of other aftermarket seats. They also raised the height with the new seats in (which suits what your after).

I'm 174cm, and they fit fine, though I sit way too low to see over the dash!

The shoulder is at door level if that gives you an idea.

lorenz, i may take you up on that. How much do you want?

Cost me $70 for the seats and $100 to mod, happy to let them go for $70 as I need the space! Wouldnt be too much to ship them boxed up.

Mk2 runners are skinnier than Mk3 ones lads.

Mk1, Mk2 and Corrado are the same

Golf 3, Seat Ibiza and Cordoba are wider.

How hard would it be to fit MK4 GTI seats??

There is a DIY on vortex. Its not to hard but the runners on the front seats need to be cut and welded about 2" inward and the wheels on the mk4 runners need to be grinded to fit. The rear seats are fairly easy but you need to cut the mounts out of the mk4 and weld them in to the mk2 or you will need to custom make some stuff.
