  • Got Bored Today so made a sleeper Mk2

Had a bit of time this week and am tired of looking at some of the bits of junk cluttering up the factory.

This car is a 1986 Pommie import Golf C 1.3L! Has a noisy engine and gearbox. I didn`t investigate why, I just turfed em.

    Then today we did this

ABF EFI, changed the whole wiring loom for a Cupra one.

Mk2 and 3 Petrol tanks are the same but have fittings for different pumps. Used the Golf 3 tank and the cupra fuel pump.

Changed the front subframe for an Ibiza GTI one, uprated swaybar and the later Mk3 type engine mount, same skinny track suspension as Mk2.

Used Mk3 GL Vented Rotors and hubs.

Mk3 downpipe and joined exhaust up to the 1.3 exhaust backbox for the skinny outlet rear pipe

Used the Golf non power steer rack and did the A/C delete.
This car is gonna be light and fast.

Used an 020 Gearbox and 16v Clutch and Pressure plate.

Only Mods inside will be stripy GTI seats and door trims.

Bonnet Shuts, bay is getting there, who would suspect??

    That is all.

I`m a bit over long term projects so my current MO is to spend a month or so accumulating bits and getting ready. then doing a hell for leather three day build.

This keeps us focussed and makes it an achieveable goal. Also prevents all the storing parts for months and not being able to find crucial pieces.

Got a new radiator for the beast today, engine wiring is done, all the trim around the steering column is done, cupra key and clocks are in. Fuel lines are done, remember the car used to be a carby, so we used all new Mk3 gear. Could probably have had it running if I hadn`t had to leave early to pick up the kids.

                        Tomorrow.........
