Still need a flex joint but took it for a spin after working out that the exhaust manifold was loose on one side. Did it up, adjusted the shift linkage as I couldn't get under it to replace the relay bush.
Heaps more power than before. Great pull off the line (Need to change the clutch and the CV's) and great through the gears. But I had a problem when I went, to change gears and nothing happened. I pulled the long shift rod apart and the pin got pulled through and lost on the weighted rod. Jerry rigged it with a useless allen key and pushed the shift rod back together. I shouldn't be able to pull the rod end off should I??? Are there 2 different ball sizes on the shifter linkages?

Problem:
2. The reco head I have has 4 cam caps, not 5 like my original. There is no provision for the 5th cap (between 3/4 cylinder) Will this matter?
3. My new tensioner doesn't have a hex head to tension with, just 2 small holes. Should I change it for a proper one or is there a way of doing it?
Your reco head is a later model running hydraulic lifters not solid lifters like your original, check the inlet valve size on yours it should be 40.5mm and the reco one will have 38.0mm intake valves. Hydraulic heads are quieter though it will loose a little power with the change unless you give it a good port and polish!!sigpic

Changed the clutch. Boy was that fun! Started it up to test it and while closing the garage door, the engine died and wouldn't start. Prior to this it had been running oddly then would die. Take the cap/rotor out and refit, it would run for about 500m thendie again. Was not an enjoyable drive home. Mrs was bitching-sell it!!
Replaced:
The coil- nothing.
The cap- nothinbg
the button- nothing
The ignition module- nothing.
I'm now thinking I may have a dud HT lead to the coil. Tried shorting it against the block, no spark.
Pulled a plug - soaked in fuel confirming no spark.
Anyone have any ideas???
