STD ones aren't that quick, you just have to chip and pulley them to get reasonable performance. I drove one that was modified by Oettinger from new and with the extra weight of the syncro, it was no faster than my GTI G60.

They look pretty do look dull with std wheels, some splits make all the difference.

Woot - i just found some old pics of a couple of 16Vers i used to own in the UK!! Scanned them so they're a bit grainy!! I had a couple more Mk2s before these - a Formel E (my first car) and an 8V GTI, can't find any pics of them though...

Found some more, these were taken at GTI International at the TRL, i think it was '96, could of been '95.

Sure Velly16V and Gav100VW will recognise YSF 10 and maybe more...
