Its like having an auto WRX, just doesnt make any sense!
Does anybody know if the European markets got the automatic version?
Was thinking that because the Australian imported GTI's were in Japanese spec, so maybe that could explain why we were offered autos and de-tuned motors?

yes, i had one, nothing but trouble, old school auto and poorly designed. i had mine converted to manual and never ever had any trouble with it.
the auto was in mine was rebuilt at 40k then died at 105k.leaked oil all the time, was unable to be fixed. the starter sits under the exhaust manifold, so when it was hot it wouldnt start.
