Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've found VW springs to be extremely long lasting and well made. However they do have different comfort/handling shock absorbers for different markets and I think the Golf 2 shocks/struts could do with an upgrade. Anyway after about 80k/kms they are probably worn out.

alright guys. I just rang Heasmans and the news is not good.

I told him what car i had and all that and that i wanted to get some new shocks etc. He told me that they dont have the parts for mk2 gtis and that the only way is to take it there and then they can assess what needs to be replaced and special order but i lookin at starting $1000

Dont do it! Far out. I have just bought a new non power rack and strut mounts for less than $500. The bushes should come in fairly cheap too. (less than $200) Once you have the parts (I suggest Genuine Trade Imports) you can get your mech to install... Way cheaper.
          Euro look 2... Mk2 love!
