Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

havnt had this problem with my "goofs" but i did have that problem with my old MR2....was only at certain revs....it was the heat sheild on the manifold so i took it off, bolts were rusted and one had snapped off.
best option is jack her up on stands n get under it and have a bang around see what vibrates..
    Cheers, Benny

I've had troubles like this before and it wasn't the heat sheild for me, but the cam belt cover.... just an idea.

I did have this problem. It was the heat shield, and I got it removed, repaired and replaced. Much, much better. I would get it put back on. It was put on for a reason...

Well there's suddenly a can full of bolts rattling around in mine too. I'm guessing the catalytic converter has collapsed internally.
