I think mine did this a few weeks ago, I just put it on the slow setting and flicked it off when it got to the off position.

Don't think it's done it since tho...

I`d think relay or stalk. If you jiggle the stalk does it behave the same?

In the fuse box. Cant remember which one. Pull them out one at a time while trying the wipers, when they stop you have got it.

I doubt it. When you find it, take the lid off and have a look inside, the soldered joints are always failing. 2 minutes with a soldering iron often helps a lot.

relays are available from any motor spares place, narva etc will make ones that will fit. Take your old one in to double check compatibilty if insure.

I wouldn't expect any old shop to carry a VW compatible relay.

I'll pull the Haynes later and give you some more things to look at. I suspect something a bit harder. Are you any good with a multimeter? Do you have one?

Im going with its the stalk, can you explain what you have done and the syptoms again,

have you fiddled with the wiring? there are 4 wires from memory.

                              if you have eliminated,

1 - wiring (check resistance from wiper motor end to the stalk plug end)

                              2 - relay

then it may be your stalk.
