Hi Guys,

Just bought a '89 16V Golf GTi.
Does anyone know of any good wreckers/shops to get new or used parts in Melbourne?

Nice pick up, what parts do you need?

You know that its fully imported and there are bugger all Mk2s in Oz and that parts will be thin on the ground right?

If it all becomes too much, let me know and I`ll take it off your hands

nah too bad i'm never selling it! it took too long to find it

i know it's imported, but it's been here since 1996.
there's a few bits and pieces in the interior that i need to get, and some things to fix up, but otherwise it's in pretty good nik, considering it's 20 years old.

i want to see if there is any places in Melbourne first before i go interstate.

there aren't many places you can buy from in melb. you're better off posting up what you're after on this forum. fair chance you could find what you're after. failing that, smaller parts are best to get from the uk (pound is up the creek atm). try their ebay.

Not always true mate, freight Australia wide is no problem for us and cheap.

Let us know what you actually need and people on here will chime in.

Ive just had my Mk2 GTi service at Volkspower in Burwood, Vic and then mentioned that they've just wrecked a Mk2 GTi for parts...might be worth giving them a buzz.

Apart from the odd smashed car, there are NO places in Melbourne. I know all too well.

NICE FIND!! I have a twin in Melbourne....no longer special....lol

PS I have bought a lot of small trim parts from VW in the past, they're not as pricey as you might think......sometimes....
