  • '91 GTI MK2 - 8V to 16V Conversion?

    Hey all,

As you can probably tell from the subject I am running an 8V GTI MK2 and I am researching the possibility of a 16V conversion. Is this something which can be done with 'relative' ease, or are there better transplant and/or conversion options.

Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

ABF 2L 16v is the easiest.
They only came in SEAT Cupras in Oz, 1999 and there were 50 of em sold here.
If you get one of those engines and the loom and ecu, it will plug straight into your fusebox and use your gearbox.
Basically the same conversion as Sean did in his Mk3 on here.

Nice one. Thanks for the advice mate.

Where would be the best place to start looking to source one of these?

There are a few 16v's that poke up every now and then [private sales]

Just have to sort out the injection you want to/can run, and it should all bolt in, relatively straight forward.

vr6, they are meant to be straight foward, the 20v bolts straight up but like all of them mate you need to research them for a while and mix parts from all dubs, maybe seats and audis etc
