anyone had experience putting the black door strips back on their golf? the thick rubber ones that run half way up the door. do they just glue on or is there a trick to it

They attach with clips....but often get broken or perish.



You can silicone them on I guess but gets messy.

mount the door strips with tape or whatever and open and shut your doors to measure up.
clean doors with alcohol or meths then glue 'em. not that I ever tried to glue 'em without opening the doors....that would be dumb

Hang on, the thick rubber ones with the red GTI stripe?
They actually stick on with that crazy double sided tape stuff that could hold michael schumacher's chin to the side of a building...

I took mine off my old doors expecting clips but there was guey black tape.

The later models have the clip-on ones IIRC.
