Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

No, not Bjorn again, born again!

After I put the head back on it was really down on power and had niggling idle problems but I got my GTI tuned today and now it's like a new car!

I had it tuned by a VW mech named Julian. An English bloke who works for Barloworld Mascot but does work on the weekends for people.

Also had a new clutch cable put in. The clutch pedal has a rubber up the top that stop it hitting a metal bracket up there for the clutch cable. It had gone and the bracket was bent so he sorted all that out and now the clutch is easy, instead of suspending your leg in the air to chnage gear

The MK3 exhaust manifold and downpipe in it gives it a bit more torque.

I will bring it to the Outback Steakhouse Dinner late this month.

    Nice work mate.

Julian is Welsh and will probably lay you out if you call him English.

Glad the beast is alive again.

sshhhh keep Jules a secret and only let special people know about him. He looks after the TT, Jetta, and the Beetle.

Dub mechanics that can work on water (old and new) and air cooled are rare these days

Post some pics of the new engine!

Well he seemed keen for more business so I thought it was a good idea...

Well it's just a reco head and diff exhaust so it looks bog stock tbh. Will do when it gets cleaned.

            MPS v GTI

            Hey

I just raced a guy home through Norwest Boulevard in an MPS

Sure he had me on the straight, but didn't pull away too hard, but in the roundabouts I went in hot and came out squealing (bad tyres) and had car lengths on him.

Aren't MPSs meant to be fast? He pulled up and said "Whoa that thing is fast!"

You are a driving god. Go easy on the mere mortals that don't fully appreciate your greatness yet

No seriously every dog has his day just ask loon about the smoking honda that beat a wrx full of wasted wankers after DOVW...
