Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hella H4's

Im in the UK at the moment and picked up a set of Hella H4 headlamps from GSF and I will be installing (with the help of my auto electrician uncle - i dont like fires) the uprated wiring loom as per this...

I know velly_16v_cab posted a good write up on an uprated loom as well.

The H4 bulbs I need are readily available in Aus right? Is there anything else i need?

I was looking at the back of the lights and trying to figure out how everything hangs together as they are quite different to the ones I have currently, ill take some pics soon...

Ive only been here since Tuesday and I think my wife has already banned me from visiting any more dub related places

Soooooo many parts available here though, there are bugger all Mk2's left on the road really and even less Mk1's. Was back here 2 years ago and saw a lot more then.

So the parking light bulb fitting looks the same but how does the main bulb fit in? Must attach to that metal latch i guess? Is probably pretty obvious when i get the bulbs etc i suppose.
