Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Audi adr into mk2

    Hi guys,

Swapping in an adr into the Mk2, what exhaust manifold do I use? All the info I can find is on the 20vt. This is the Na 20v. Also what mounts will I need?

    Thanks in advance.

I truly dont know but I can tell you that I was surprised to see that the 2.0L TFSI motors eg mk 5&6 Golfs has the same port spacings on their exhausts as the 1.8T 20V. So for example with an adapter plate (cos the studs are different) I can fit one of those turbos to my 1.8T. Makes me think the NA 2.0L FSI motors (ABF?) would probably do the same and may not even need an adapter as they are only 1 generation removed from the 1.8T.

      VW Mk1 20V branch manifold - Evolution/STO/MRCtuning

I'd also check out some of the south african forums. They had a one spec Cup race series there in the mid 2000's using 9N Polo's. The engines were normally aspirated with 2.0L blocks (ABF maybe?) but with 1.8 20V heads. If anyone was to know about proper NA exhaust manis for 1.8 20V heads in transverse config it'd be them.
